If you want to use a plain html page and use the old-style Java generators, they're quite easy because all you really need to do is know a LITTLE html and not touch the *code* of the scripting on the page. If you want the more new style .php I can't help ya there. But essentially all you need to do is build an html page which can be altered around the code.

This is a REALLY simple generator to produce exclamation marks:

Right-click on it to view the page source. The java code is where it says "script language" and goes down to where it says "/script". Everything outside of that is the 'page' code itself, which allows you to add background images, color, text, whatnot. The page there has basically nothing but the click box and the background color.

Fill in the blanks, where it has < somethinghere > you can change that, and the "array" of items which can be changed, that's it's title. (So, I have an array called <1>. The large table with all the different entries you'll note starts with 1 (with lots of crap around it, don't change those codes). You can lead to ANOTHER array as long as you copy and paste it correctly and don't lose any quotation marks.

Are you going to be hand-coding this or using an html editor? I use Dreamweaver and it's really nice for this, because the java code can be separated into different colors, so you instantly know when something's missing.

I learned by doing - just try replacing my <1> with something else, like and then make the new array called CATS; fill in the blank on each array item to read, "black and white", "orange marmalade" etc. You can have an array which only has one option, or one which has hundreds.

Organize your thoughts, first - what leads to where is very very important, especially in a text-block based generator. You'll figure it out, it's really quite easy. You do NOT have to mess with ANY of the code itself, just those array items and being careful to not lose any " or > marks.
