This guy's airship is badly damaged and undergoes a very rough landing, leaving him stranded in unfamiliar territory with a broken leg and a broken arm and a mild concussion (being thrown from the airship during the landing and all, he's quite lucky with just getting this). Luckily his friend, the navigator, is only bruised up and can help take care of him.
The problem is this: How long would it take to heal this kind of injury? Having never broken a bone, I've got no idea what the victim would go through. Assuming a lack of medical skill or knowledge beyond basic first aid, how would one treat something like this?
I'm looking for the guy to be laid up for about a month, maybe two at most. Is this reasonable for such a leg injury?
Right now, I've settled on this: small hairline fracture of one of the lower arm bones; the leg injury would be a bit more severe, but I don't see a gory bone-sticking-out kind of thing. I'm thinking arm sling and leg splint, with a crutch made out of a branch for when he is well enough to walk. They'll be able to get some simple medicine from locals, so that should hold off infection.
So again: What kind of heal-time (for bones) would be expected from a healthy person in a reasonably clean, mountainous environment? How about that concussion? Thanks guys!
