From the challenges here to ones I do on fanthropology, I noticed something - people LOVE rethinking the things they love.
Dr. Who becomes a surfer dude. Someone fanfics Inu-Yasha's cast as a high school drama. Microstories. Why do we enjoy this? |

Because they/we/people become attached. They feel certain things for certain characters and situations and worlds and etc., and they don't like to let go.

Yeah - for me, Sanger has become my quintessential Genrehopper (Shard had formerly been in that position, but there are only so many places you can explain away a blue guy.) and he's in like, 50 different genres now.
I like spindoctoring my works, not other people's. I have no shame in knowing how many fandoms I mary-sue into, it's fun. I mean, Sanger's a sexually-deviant, borderline psychotic bipolar homicidal/suicidal mad genius engineer/bioengineer. He fits nearly *anywhere*.... Right?
