Or German?
Or French? But then I would have to hang out with the French crowd of where I come from, blech.

I need to decide on the language that I should take? Spanish? (but I'm sick of that one, and everyone learns Spanish? Why is it so darn popular? )

It surprises me that there are still very few schools offering Chinese, Japanese or Korean... All of which are far more important in today's economy...
I'd say French, even though I hate the language myself, it's one that might be of more use for other studies in college such as biology and philosophy.

Up here in Canada, French is pretty mandatory. Coming from that background, I would heartily counsel you not to take it, but I'm hardly a reliable
advisor. It's useful, for sure, but too easy. I would have tried German on for size, had I been given the choice.

I'd go for Spanish ... I did it until I was 16 (and French until I was 14). Course, I can't speak either anymore. But logically, go for Spanish since
it's like the third most spoken language in the world or something. French is spoken around the place but German is only spoken in Germany ... well, pretty
much anyway.
I hate the way the German language sounds anyway. I don't know, we can't decide for you. If you want to be able to travel a bit and get a good job, probably go for Spanish. Or else, just do the one you enjoy most. Everything we do is a choice. Oatmeal or cereal, highway or side streets, kiss her or keep her, we
make choices and we live with the consequences. If someone gets hurt along the way we ask for forgiveness, it's the best anyone can do.

B-b-but I love the way the German language sounds!
My reasoning is twofold: Firstly, it's a difficult language, and French and Spanish are really not that hard. If you can learn German, odds are you'll be able to pick up any latinate language later in life. Secondly, it's cool. "Kidnapping Nubile Victorian Ladies Since 1867" |

They do also offer Japanese, but I don't wanna take it.
I am leaning a bit towards German. I'll tell you April 18th, when I have to turn the form thingy merjig in saying which language I'll take. And I don't want to take Spanish because that's the same language that I've learned EVERY SINGLE YEAR of my life. And I am very. very sick of it. Very sick of it. I can't stand another year. |

I only know enough Spanish to know when my aunt and cousin were talking about me.
I say go for Deutsch. Ist gut.

I know enough Spanish to get the gist of a conversation... if the people are talking slow enough.

I guess it depends on what language the people around you speak. I wish I'd have taken German instead of French, because it turns out I have a whole side
to my family that speaks German. Alternatively, if you want to spend time in Canada or France it would help to speak French. If you live in any of the far
south states in the USA or want to spend time in Italy, Spain, or Mexico, it looks like its back to the Spanish books for you. It's really a matter of
where you are and where you think you're going.

Darn... Because I don't know. I'm am so very lost about where I think that I'll end up going right now... well not lost, just uncertain. I've
ruled out Spanish though. During my last Spanish class I thought "That's it! I'm done with this language!" I suppose that it could be a shame
though, because I was one of the only people who actually got the majority of the language and what we were doing... but if I wasn't so darn burnt out on
the language already, I might keep on going with it, but as it is, I've been learning the same thing since kindergarten.

I took Spanish ... I wish I hadn't, because it's insanely difficult when you add the millions of tenses and stuff, so take German, it's cool.
