To all Yanks of voting age, have you voted yet or are you part of Super Tuesday? Or, indeed, are you still waiting.
Who do you want to replace the White House's current chimpanzee? Everything we do is a choice. Oatmeal or cereal, highway or side streets, kiss her or keep her, we make
choices and we live with the consequences. If someone gets hurt along the way we ask for forgiveness, it's the best anyone can do.

First, Thank you for letting me know what day of the week it is.
Second, my states primary passed... first or second, and I chose not to vote there because I couldn't choose a party when I knew next to nothing about the other. Oh, and Not Hilary works for me as my White House Monkey. ...What is super Tuesday? Gem Sealed Signature:

Is "Super Tuesday" just the term coined by the British press to cope with it? It's the day on which most of the States do their voting for
candidates. Should be a big decider.

"I chose not to vote there because I couldn't choose a party when I knew next to nothing about the other." Booo! Learn! A lack of political knowledge is no excuse - for one thing, it can be easily remedied now that we have the Internet, and for another, I seriously doubt your average voter knows anything at all about parties, candidates, platforms, economics, politics, the arts, the sciences, or the time of day. Even sitting down and making a choice for yourself instead of letting the media do it for you would be a step in the right direction - all that abstaining from voting does is ensure the idiots and hardliners get first pick on who should determine the fate of nations. I just finished reading 'Legacy of Ashes' and if even half of it is true, it doesn't really matter who gets elected. Besides, I have an abiding
mistrust of politicians in general, and American ones in particular...

I did my voting. Chose Obama.
Watched Romney's speech. The man really is a muppet. Voted for some good local bills. |

I just finished watching "Zeitgeist", and I'm sure we both have a similar impression of American politics now. That said, I'd still vote, if
only to pick the least of all the possible evils. Giving up is inviting the worst, when you remember that the kind of people you least want deciding
who's in power are the ones motivated enough to get out and vote 100% of the time. They may still win in the end, sure, but at least you've
tried, right?

I wasn't of legal voting age the last time we had elections. I do know that none of the parties really stand for the stuff I believe in. But it's
impossible to pick one. See our House of Representatives
Dutch Parliament Short explanation: CDA: Christian Democratic Appeal (Central) PvdA: Labour (Central left) SP: Socialistic Party (former Communist party) VVD: People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (The Liberals or: 'How to make sure the wealthy get even more.') PVV: Party for Freedom (Extreme Right. Their leader is often compared to Hitler. I think the people who think that are right GroenLinks: Green Left (Socialistic environmentalism) ChristenUnie: Christian Union (Central right) D66: Democrats 66 (Idealistic liberals) SGP: Reformed Political Party (Rightwinged. They allways get 2 seats. The same 120.000 people vote for them. In about 30 years they will cease to excist because their voters will have died.) (THEY SCARE THE CRAP OUT OF ME) PVDD: Party for the Animals (often said to be a 'one issue party'. Yesterday they filed 90 motions on animal welfare! Verdonk: Former VVD member who was removed from her party because of a conflict with the VVD leader. She now runs her own movement: Trots op Nederland (lit: Proud of the Netherlands) (Extreme Right. Unofficial ally of the PVV) She is also named as our next Prime minister Voorzitter: Chairman (Madame chairperson actually And I really don't know what to vote for.. I would vote Clinton btw. Don't ask

I'd vote for the PVDD too I think. I'm especially scared of your CDA, though: sounds like a certain party in Australia run by Fred Nile. *shudder* As
to Clinton, well, I'd vote Obama simply because I hate that American adoration of political dynasties. Ultimately, a Democrat has got to be better than a
Republican.
"i could vote in the australian elections because of the age restrictions but the guy i wanted is in anyway. john howard was in for way too long" I'm assuming you mean couldn't vote? I voted, but it was largely ineffective, since I live in a safe Liberal seat. One of the few they retained. *sigh* But still, I can't begin to say how happy I was that we got rid of Mr Eyebrows AND that we got given a capable Minister for Education (thank the gods - FINALLY!) |

Another one for the PVDD, were I Dutch. Remind me of these guys.
Anyway, point of this post: Obama's winning the Democratic Primaries at the moment. Granted, it's only by four votes, but still, I'm kinda happy about that, him being my guy and all. That said, I'm actually really bothered by the amount of hatred leveled at Clinton. I mean, I don't agree with some of her stances, but the sheer vitriol of her critics from all sides... I don't know if it's sexism, or what, but it makes me uncomfortable. My mother once hit on exactly what was wrong with her, but I don't remember what she said. Something about the way she carries herself, I think.
Everyone on campus is talking about the election right now. Politics has always been a hot topic, but never this hot. Our newspaper asked: "Which do you think America is more ready for: a black president or a woman president." My friend replied thusly: "I think Americans are ready for a smart president." I knew there was a reason we kept him around. As for myself, not living in the state I'm regestered to vote in, I can't vote in the Ohio primaries and it's too late to send in for a West Virgina voters absentee ballot. I think. Besides, I have a plan: I'm going to wait till the riot's done, then sneek in and vote for one of the last two standing--whomever's platform I agree with more, I suppose.

I think some people here probably need stickers that say "It's not MY fault things aren't working out, I voted for Cthulhu."

It's extremely weird to be in California during all of this.
First, I'm in Ohio, which becomes the Florida of 2004. So I tootle on out HERE, and now of course we're the place of the Great Democratic Slowdown. Really, it's like I keep moving into News Centric areas. |

The Lady of Darkness wrote: That's our PM! He is the leader of the CDA. They're not that scary.. they are without opinion(or have one that only 0.1% of the populace supports)
and have ruled us for 40 years out the last 50.. Our Minister of Finance(Labour) would have chosen Obama. The goverment officially doesn't have a opinion
The current cabinet is a coalition between CDA, Labour and Christian Union..

My state was one of the primary ones, but I don't have a party and really couldn't give a rat's sweet behind about primaries. Once it's down to
the final two, then I'll care. Maybe. I intensely dislike politics anyway.
