Mmmm, too be honest, I'm completely surprised it's taken this long.

*Flicks the dial in his clockwork brain from "Vernacular" to "Appallingly Verbose"*
Dear Sir, I fervently hope I engender no ill-will by presuming that you are referring to a collaborative endeavour on the part of this very community in regards to the construction and imagineering of a masterpiece in the vein of that glorious, brass-worked day-dream of cogs and vapours that some might call the "Scientific Romance". I dare say such an activity might find a brace of avid supporters in the good Anacharis and myself, not to mention our other retrohistorically-inclined compatriots, of which I assume there are many more than have admitted it in as many words. Now, my esteemed colleagues, in what form shall this nearly maniacal affection for the mechanically marvelous manifest? We could certainly avail ourselves of a wiki (gratis, naturally), or indeed any other form of thernautical conveyance by which to launch our diaphanous meddlings on their maiden voyage. I for one would be most intrigued to see, for instance, a collection of those most fortuitous thernautical Log-Books (known to the laiety as "Blogs", I do believe), each one charting the daring escapades and delightful perils of a single personage. Admittedly, however, this idea would leave little room for pure creative exposition "worldbuilding", as it were instead surrendering to a rather more passive type of creation, a sort of exposition by proxy. The possibilities are without doubt as endless as the vast, uncharted void of the thernet itself. We could with the inestimable Anacharis's explicit permission, naturally take a leaf from the above-mentioned artificer's significant tome and "publish" a series of helpful and informative pamphlets on all manner of subjects, from how to get around in the Magnetic Caliphate without getting stuck on a saguaro to the correct Splicer-Fork to use when dining with (or on) a Jovian Bubble Czar! By Jove, we could even fabricate a fictional news-paper! Onwards, my friends; onwards, and let our steps never falter! Onwards, for Science and Adventure, and the delectably brilliant marriage between the two that is STEAMPUNK!!!! ... ----- ~ Wolfgang Kaiser, Zeppelin Vigilante ~ "Kidnapping Nubile Victorian Ladies Since 1867" |

Good sir Hamster you are indubitably correct! Blimps away!
The blog idea has good potential, but on the other hand a wiki does aid consistency. We could easily create a blog-ish format on a wiki though! My suggestion would be a worldbuilding project on a smaller scale than Xothu, with perhaps more of a focus on a fictional nation. We must confer! |

We could, of course, do as many of the above options as we wanted, not just one. A comprehensive compendium in wiki form, and then each of us could be free to add whatever we wished in terms of "blogs", pamplets, excerpts from fictional narratives, newspaper clippings, perhaps even illustrations and "photographs". The size of the project would be smaller than Xothu, but we could flesh it out a lot more.
Basically, this is me saying that whatever you chumps decide on, I'll contribute heartily. I'm gonna damn well keep an thernautical Log-Book on the side, though, and nobody can stop me now! ----- ~ Wolfgang Kaiser, Zeppelin Vigilante ~ "Kidnapping Nubile Victorian Ladies Since 1867" |

Yeah, as much as I prefer a blended genre, steampunk has been calling out to me. Perhaps it's time to change the meaning of Chataya...

So how shall we approach this? That PBWiki site was pretty useful, I thought.

Or, or or or, we could use Wikidot, which is also free, but has no ads, allows unlimited space, gives us a forum (apparently, though it's not like we need another one), lets us edit the page without refreshing, and has customizeable themes... *has Googled too many free wikis now*
Also, what should we name the project? World Spin Beta, or something new? ----- ~ Wolfgang Kaiser, Zeppelin Vigilante ~ "Kidnapping Nubile Victorian Ladies Since 1867" |
