I would just like to point out that Lethe is quite possibly the best human being on Earth as of this moment. The rest of you shmucks will have to work overtime to regain your favour with the Boss after this stunning display of crazy-awesome.
Now, please excuse me. I must go drool over it some more. ----- ~ Wolfgang Kaiser, Zeppelin Vigilante ~ "Kidnapping Nubile Young Girls Since 1922" |

Ooooh, you don't know CIty of Heroes!
COH (and City of Villains) is one fun massive multiplayer game. It's not a slog like WOW or EQ, you actually have your powers start at level 1 and missions to match your abilities the whole way through. There are brilliant story arcs which you participate in (well, time and time again - how many times WILL the Circle of Thorns steal the Jewel of Hera? about as many times as new characters are created!) and the scenery as well as the character generator's so amazing. www.cityofheroes.com is the url for the general overview and stuffs on the game. If people want, and have a reasonable connection to the net, I have hero-side (they don't make villain side) 14 day trial codes to try out the game. I have like, 18 of them. It's about a 2.5 gig download, so you know, but it's SO worth it. The two sides of the game, COH and COV combine in pvp zones, but also to get the full use of all the costume options you do have to have COV. There is a new 'deluxe set' which came out to Walmart (gag) and is also available as a code online, called "Good versus Evil" edition - that's both games, up to date as much as a couple months ago (so one major patch), and comes with a free month when you buy it in a store (along with the map, cool goodies, and extra stuff in the game too - which I cannot live without now). Myself, I have 3 accounts - 1 I pay for, 1 which was a gift and people have given me 60-day time cards for, and 1 which my boss gave to me after paying for a year on it (he plays wow too much now). With both COH and COV installed you have 12 character slots on each of the 11 servers - yes, that's over 140 individual characters you can make, delete, try out. They're working on server transfers for characters to move between the servers. I have played this game every day for the last 28 months. If you want trial codes to download, I've got em and I'm not afraid to use them. And here - check out some screenshots. smg.photobucket.com/album...-gray/coh/ |

O__o
I am in awe. How much does it cost to have an account? I'd like to know before I request a free trial, just so I can know ahead of time. |

Personally, I want the MMO fad to end so developers can go back to making immersive, single player games for people who prefer one big storyline (and who don't have broadband).
What I don't understand (I really don't) is how people -afford- to pay for all these accounts. |

LDF,
I'm not sure myself. I played one and sure, I could afford it, but daymn even for a few months I blew $60.00. However, that being said, COH is really amazing. A complex costume engine, a simple power system, and people can build most anything. There's something odd about playing a superhero along with Spongebob Squarepants. |

I had a big post ready but the intarwebs ated it about 5 times.
The cost of COH/COV is low - if you buy the Good vs Evil collected edition (at walmart for the extra time 30 days, or online without that) it's about 30-40 bucks. The cost of the 'two' games is only 1 15 dollar a month payment, unless you put them on separate accounts. (You can only access coh stuff when you buy and install city of heroes, and only cov stuff with villains - but if you UPGRADE the account with the other, you get both options and the supergroup bases.) Prices per month go anywhere from about 11.50 to 15-ish, depending on your method of payment. I just bought the last 2 Heroes time cards from a store nearby for 20 bucks a piece, meaning I got 120 days for 40 bucks... And I have trial codes up the wazoo. If people wind up using them *but not wanting to get the full game* I would actually like to have the accounts info, so I can potentially use them to pad my other supergroups... lol. And no, this ain't a fad. 200k is fine for me. I'm on Protector server, and if you wind up getting on, or if someone is on already, I'm global @Zekiran Immortal, @Zekiran Mortal, and @Zekiran. |

I assume the trial coes are for activation once the client's been downloaded? I might just give it a shot, after drooling over screenshots, concept art, and Quicktime movies...
