I love opera, because it's so trashy.

What? Maybe not in today's world of musicals and reality TV, but in the days before vaudeville and burlesque, operas were the gaudiest shows in town. You've gotta take these things in historical context, and then snigger at modern folks who get all dolled up and visit Carmen or Don Juan thinking they're the tip-top of high society. I mean, they are by today's standards, but a gent from the 1750s would chuckle into...

Speaking of opera, it really is quite entertaining when you go and see Mozart's The Magic Flute, and there are English subtitles up at the top of the stage. And the people actually pause in their singing and speak in English. And, it was rather a comedy...

Queen is my absolute favorite band ever! When it comes to classical I'm a bit average: Vivaldi, Beethovens' 9th, Wagner and Rossini. I've also seen the Matthäus Passion twice (once in the Grand Church of Naarden and once in the Concert Building in Amsterdam) It completely blew me away. It was especially cool since we went with school and got our seats for free (subsidised) and all those snubbish people were asking themselves what the heck we were doing there

I tend to default to the classics: Queen, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, and Billy Joel.

Don't say Classical is boring until you've heard The Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mannahiem Steamroller, and Philip Glass. The Trans-Siberian did a version of "The Nutcracker" that was basically heavy metal backed by by a full orchestra. My dance instructor heard it and wanted to change our yearly edition of the ballet. Frankie: Avantasia, Freedom's Call, Aina, and Rhapsody are all in my playlist already, and awesome to boot. Thy Majestie, though, is new and awesome to boot.

"Mr Blue Sky" - proper feel good tune. Electric Light Orchestra did the original and it's just been covered by Lily Allen - both versions are good. Or else, the soundtrack to Avenue Q, pretty much anything by Robbie Williams or McFly. Or "Drops of Jupiter" by Train. And Sister Hazel.
