it is very sad when a pet leaves you... although i haven't ever really had a dog: just cats.

I'm sorry too. I remember my first pet dying - I was four. It is something that never leaves you...

It is hard to comment on the poem because it is so personal. It is what it is for you, and no-one can pretend to understand that. All I can say is that I think I know what you mean, because there is a similar poem about a small grey cat hidden in a book in my bookshelf.

That's really good for something you wrote at that age.
Heck it's just good period.
The second three lines in the second to last verse don't work for me, but I can't suggest any reason why.

And I'm sorry about your dog.

This is a poem I wrote about a year after my first dog died, when I was about 7 or 8. It takes me a lot of courage to upload it like this, since I still cry about her, even nine years later. Her death is probably the most vivid memory I have from that age.

The Boy was excited as he sat in the car.
''Where are we going?'' he said.
''We're taking the dog to the vet,'' said his mum,
''we think something's wrong with her...
