I found this site called www.rpgnow.com and on it is this ebook called

A magical society: ecology and culture. the free download is called a guide to map making.
I bought the ebook and it contains a nice layout for world building and a few ideas on how to build a map.
It can be found under the publisher Expeditious Retreat Press. It may be mainly for PRGs, a writer can get...

Hey hey hey! Do you want to draw people like they were actual people and not cardboard cutouts or sacks full of whoopee cushions?

This might help. You can rotate each pose horizontally, there are a ton of vertical angles, and the musculature is right out there so you can learn while you sketch!

Here... this site is amazing! It has some really good trap and encounter Ideas... and even has story ideas posted... I've found it really helpful in my RPing... and the story Ideas are really cool too...

I'm not sure if anyone else has found this before, but I found The Surrealist a couple of years back and it still comes up with some excellent ideas. I mean, it's not much, the majority of it is replacing words with other words, but if you like the news set out in Fantasy or Scifi language then you'll probably love everything else on the site, for instance:

I'm truly surprised no-one has mentioned this before but there's some excellent fantasy art & writing resources to be found on the FARP. I have forgottenthe exact address but if you type FARP into google (or if you're onthe very latest version of IE, into the address bar), you should find it easily.

I enjoy going to the Rinkworks site. One of the two guys running it has been writing computer games; (I'm not totally sure if the other one does). The site has a forum, polls, games, a name generator with many options, and lots of other neat stuff.

The Domesday Book

Fill in the details of your country or realm or what have you and it tells you:

the population
the number of villages, towns and cities
the number of livestock
the number of tradesmen
the number of castles

Basically, it calculates how many people and such could realistically exist in each country. Very useful.
